Boys Basketball

LCA opened its boys basketball season with a win for the first time in five years, beating Caston 61-49 at home.

Josh McDaniel got his senior year off to a great start, leading the Cougars with 21 points and added three boards and two helpers.

Jake Harmon nailed four from deep and finished with 14 points, Elijah Raymond had 11 points and nine boards and Noah Twombly had five points and 10 rebounds.

LCA made its money in the first quarter, jumping out to a 17-4 lead, holding the Comets to just one field goal in that stretch and spread its lead to 17 at the half, 32-15.

Luke Lowe led the Comets with 12 points and Brandon Kinser had 11 points. Caston fired away from deep, hitting nine threes in the game.

Caston won the JV game with LCA 36-31.

LCA (1-0) visits Bethany Christian next Tuesday.

Girls Basketball

North Miami took care of business on its home court Tuesday, smothering LCA 41-22.

The Warriors gave up just four points in the first quarter, and responded after the half by keeping LCA to just one point in the third quarter. The hosts also swarmed Hope Fancil, keeping the star senior to just three points and six turnovers.

Tori Calizo led the Cougars with six points while Jess Slone and Brady Gross both had eight rebounds. Anna Reimink had five points, five boards and five steals.

Adria Hartley led North Miami with 12 points while Caily Bolser and Hannah Hall each finished with eight points.

LCA (3-2) will get a week to prepare for South Bend Community Baptist, a 6 p.m. start Nov. 28 at LCA.
