MENTONE — Mentone Elementary School honored veterans with a Veterans Day program Friday, Nov. 10.

Students were encouraged to invite family members who have served in the military.

Students in the third, fourth and fifth grade choir sang “God Bless America” and “Thank You, Soldiers.”

An empty table was set up in the middle of the gymnasium with a white table cloth, a folded napkin, wine glass, white candle, lemon slices and grains of salt, one plate, a place setting, a red rose in a vase tied with a red ribbon and a Bible. America’s White Table is traditionally set up as a place of honor in military dining facilities to honor the men and women who have served in the Armed Forces and in memory of fallen, imprisoned and missing service members.

A short video titled “I Fought for You” was shown. Following the video, veterans were introduced and thanked for their service.
