Accidents
Officers of the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department recently investigated the following accidents:

  • Sunday, Dec. 16, 12:12 a.m. West SR 25, Atwood. Driver: Joshua N. Montel, 18, East 1000 South, Claypool. Driver struck a deer. Damages: up to $1,000
  • Saturday, Dec. 15, 6:36 p.m. South SR 25 and South Bruner Road, Warsaw. Driver: Amber Diehl, 27, South 800 West, Mentone. Driver struck a deer. Damages: up to $5,000
  • Saturday, Dec. 15, 12:46 p.m. South 200 West and West 200 South, Warsaw. Drivers: Stephanie A. Hohman, 22, West Dogwood Street, Warsaw; and Kelly K. Loney, 21, South Paxton Drive, Warsaw. Hohman was ending a phone call and disregarded a stop light, colliding with Loney’s vehicle. Damages: up to $25,000
  • Saturday, Dec. 15, 8:27 p.m. North 800 West and West U.S. 30, Warsaw. Driver: Patrick Murphy, 46, Gettysburg Court, Warsaw. Driver struck a deer. Damages: up to $5,000
  • Saturday, Dec. 15, 12:15 a.m. Barbee Hotel parking lot. A hit and run was reported. Damages: up to $2,500
  • Saturday, Dec. 15, 6:08 p.m. South SR 19 and West 900 South, Akron. Driver: Cameron Castle, 17, West Swick Road, Claypool. Driver struck a deer. Damages: up to $5,000
  • Friday, Dec. 14, 7:40 p.m. West 350 South, Warsaw. Driver: Ian P. Troutner, 16, Franke Road, Monroeville, Ind. Driver struck a deer causing the vehicle to leave the road and roll. The driver and a passenger, Marshal W. Troutner, 16, South 25 West, Warsaw, both reported pain and sought medical treatment. Damages: up to $5,000
  • Thursday, Dec. 13, 6:06 p.m. West SR 14, Warsaw. Driver: Penny A. Slone, 43, South Buffalo Street, Burket. Driver struck a deer. Damages: up to $5,000

  • Friday, Dec. 14, 12 a.m. Michael Griffith of Syracuse requested an officer for a civil property matter.
  • Friday, Dec. 14, 12:03 a.m. A Burket man reported a battery.
  • Friday, Dec. 14, 9:07 a.m. Mark Hoppus of Mentone reported the theft of a wheel.
  • Friday, Dec. 14, 11:30 a.m. Billijo Brown of Atwood reported criminal mischief to a vehicle.
  • Friday, Dec. 14, 1 p.m. Toby Miller of Nappanee reported fraud on his debit card.
  • Friday, Dec. 14, 12 p.m. Beth Warren of Warsaw reported problems with a family member at her home.
  • Friday, Dec. 14, 1:46 p.m. Roger Woodrum of Milford reported damages to his vehicle.
  • Friday, Dec. 14, 4:09 p.m. Terence Peterson of Warsaw reportedly lost his military I.D.
  • Friday, Dec. 14, 5:29 p.m. Michael Yates of Warsaw requested an officer.
  • Friday, Dec. 14, 5 p.m. Stephen Possell of Syracuse reported a burglary at his home.
  • Saturday, Dec. 15, 12:39 a.m. An 18-year-old Cromwell man reported being battered by three adult males.
  • Saturday, Dec. 15, 8:33 a.m. Billy Schroll of Cromwell reported his live-in girlfriend stole his X-box 360 and video games and pawned the items.
  • Sunday, Dec. 16, 3:20 p.m. A Claypool woman reported being harassed.
  • Sunday, Dec. 16, 9:30 a.m. Doyle Valentine of Pierceton reported a burglary to his residence. Firearms, electronics, prescription narcotics and Christmas presents were stolen.
