NORTH WEBSTER — Catch a free movie at North Webster Community Public Library. At 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 7, the library will be showing a 1951 American drama based on a novel by Tennessee Williams about a troubled southern belle who leaves her aristocratic background to seek refuge with her sister and volatile husband in a dilapidated New Orleans tenement. Bring a snack and enjoy the afternoon at the movies.

At 4 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 7, Crafts and Stories and Paws-To-Read will resume again after taking a break on Halloween. The kids will be making paper plate scarecrows while listening to stories. Therapy dog Echo will also be in the youth department during that time for children who have signed up for a private 15-minute reading session with her. Echo loves to listen to stories and it’s a fun way for children to practice their oral reading skills. To schedule a reading session with Echo, sign up at the youth services desk or call (574) 834-7122.

The library’s website www.nweb.lib.in.us has a new family research tool. A birth date calculator has been added to the Local History and Genealogy page. This handy tool calculates an individual’s birth date by using their age and death date listed on their tombstone or death certificate. This is a useful help to genealogists and family historians in accurately determining their ancestor’s date of birth. The tool also links to other useful resources.

Those planning to attend the North Webster Lioness Holiday Craft Bazaar 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 4, in the North Webster Community Center, should be sure to stop by the Friends of the Library craft table. The group will be selling handmade cookie and soup gift mixes along with vintage three-piece serving centerpieces. All proceeds will go to support the work of the library.

Daylight Saving Time ends 2 a.m. this Sunday, Nov. 5. Don’t forget to set your clocks back one hour before bed on Saturday and enjoy an extra hour of sleep.
