WARSAW — The area career centers understands the importance of education to most people and would like the chance to show what it is doing to promote non-traditional career opportunities with seven area high school’s female population. The Warsaw Area Career Center and the Wawasee Area Career and Technical Cooperative have co-sponsored the 15th annual Nontraditional Employment for Women Opportunities Workshop at 9:15 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 2. The seven high schools involved are Columbia City, Fairfield, Tippecanoe Valley, Warsaw, Wawasee, West Noble and Whitko.

The workshop will be held at Quaker Haven Camp, located at EMS D16C Lane, Syracuse. The day will begin with a keynote speaker, followed by round table discussions where students have the opportunity to learn about five different nontraditional careers. After lunch, the students participate in hands-on activities in different career areas so they can “feel it, touch it, experience it.” All activities will conclude by 2 p.m.

WACC and Wawasee Area Career challenge everyone to attend this workshop and believe it will be hard not to find the event to be one of the most rewarding experiences of one’s life. The enthusiasm and passion of the women presenters for their career choice excites and rejuvenates even the most uninterested of participants. This is truly education at work in the community with many partnerships involved and lots of dedicated people who want to see young women expand their horizons and pursue their dreams.

They encourage participants to stay for the day and see the nearly 200 sophomore female students actively engaged in learning. It will be exciting to see these young ladies try things they never imagined were available to them. Lunch will be provided.
