Incidents
Officers of the Warsaw Police Department have recently investigated the following incidents:
- Dec. 11, 11:39 a.m. Rayann Menzie reported a suspicious person hiding in her basement at 523 S. Union St.
- Dec. 3, 3:05 p.m. Marsh Supermarket reported fraudulent use of a Marsh gift card at 500 S. Buffalo St.
- Dec. 10, 4:33 p.m. Officers encountered an individual in possession of marijuana and paraphernalia at 3171 Center St.
- Dec. 10, 7:46 p.m. Officers discovered an Wesley Lantz driving on a suspended license at Arthur Avenue.
Accidents
Officers of the Warsaw Police Department have recently investigated the following accidents:
- Tuesday, Dec. 11, 5:07 a.m. North Detroit Street. Drivers: Jacob Stromatt, 20, Walter Way, Warsaw; and Josh Carpenter, 32, S. 750 West, Claypool. Icy roads caused Stromatt to lose control of his vehicle and veer into Carpenter’s lane where the vehicles collided. Damages: up to $10,000
- Tuesday, Dec. 11, 4:30 a.m. Lake City Highway. Driver: Anthony McKenzie, 24, South 300 East, Claypool. McKenzie slammed on his brakes. Road conditions allowed the vehicle to spin out and strike the guard rail. Damages: up to $2,500
- Tuesday, Dec. 11, 4:42 a.m. Lake City Highway. Driver: Cody McDonald, 19, South Wray Street, Atwood. McDonald lost control of the vehicle due to icy conditions and struck the concrete barrier. Damages: up to $2,500
- Tuesday, Dec. 11, 4:02 p.m. Arbonne Road and East Jefferson Street. Driver: Gordon Petty, 59, South White Pine Road, Warsaw. Petty struck a pedestrian in the roadway while turning left into the sun’s glare. Damages: up to $1,000
- Tuesday, Dec. 11, 12:37 p.m. North Roosevelt Street and East Main Street. Drivers: Arletta Wunder, 84, East Old Road 30, Pierceton; and Justin Moore, 62, East Division Road, Akron. Wunder pulled forward into the intersection where the two vehicles collided. Damages: up to $5,000
- Tuesday, Dec. 11, 10:32 a.m. Jalynn Street and Walton Boulevard. Drivers: Lynn Murphy, 45, Ivywood Dr., Warsaw; and Elaine Dirico, 55, West Lake Street, Warsaw. Murphy attempted to pull forward to get out of the way of a truck that was turning, but pulled into the pathway of Dirico’s vehicle and the two collided. Damages: up to $2,500
- Tuesday, Dec. 11, 8:03 a.m. East Fort Wayne Street and North Lincoln Street. Driver: Daniel Gonzalez, 15, North Roosevelt Street, Warsaw. Gonzalez’s moped slid on the ice and tipped over; a passenger fell off the vehicle. Damages: up to $1,000
- Tuesday, Dec. 11, 5 a.m. U.S. 30. Driver: Michelle Jackson, 57, North Bobwhite Drive, Warsaw. Jackson lost control of her vehicle on the icy roadway, spinning and hitting the guard rail. Damages: up to $2,500
- Tuesday, Dec. 11, 7:19 a.m. Smith Street. Drivers: Brenda Brown, 57, East Sycamore Street, Silver Lake; and Julene Walker, 24, West 12th Street, Winona Lake. Brown pulled forward to turn left at the intersection and collided with Walker’s vehicle. Damages: up to $2,500
- Tuesday, Dec. 11, 5:38 a.m. SR 15 North. Drivers: Maria Sanchez-Juarez, 31, Lavista Drive, Warsaw; Robert Farrington, 70, South Woodland Trail, Warsaw; Mitchell Webster, 27, Lake Drive, White Pigeon, Mich.; and Jonathon Brooks, 41, East North Winds Drive, Warsaw. Sanchez-Juarez witnessed the vehicle in front of her stop and attempted to avoid a collision by turning the wheel left, causing the vehicle to spin out on the icy roadway; the vehicle crossed into the intersection and struck Farrington’s vehicle. Webster slowed to avoid getting involved in the collision, but was struck by Brook’s during the incident. Damages: up to $50,000
- Tuesday, Dec. 11, 5:32 a.m. Lake City Highway. Driver: Valinda Jones, 30, Walter Way, Warsaw. Jones lost control of the vehicle due to ice on the bridge. Jones struck the guard rail and was struck head on by another vehicle. Damages: up to $10,000
- Sunday, Dec. 9, 7:52 p.m. East Winona Avenue and South Detroit Street. Drivers: Rebekah Gliem, 20, Somer Hoffman Road, Marion, Ohio; and Lindsay Lybarger, 17, South Clover Lane, Warsaw. Gliem rear-ended Lybarger. Damages: up to $2,500
