WARSAW – The Warsaw girls basketball team continued its undefeated season in impressive fashion Tuesday night.

The host Tigers used a red-hot shooting performance to crush Columbia City 60-29 in a non-conference contest.

Warsaw put together back-to-back big second and third quarters to soar past the Eagles. The Tigers, who improve to 7-0, outscored Columbia City 33-13 in the middle two periods of play.

The Tigers, who led just 11-10 after the first quarter, stretched their lead to 28-15 at halftime and 44-23 after the third stanza in the rout.

Warsaw shot 24-of-41 from the field in the game, including a sizzling 13-of-20 in the second half. The Tigers, who won 58-38 last year at Columbia City,  also out rebounded the Eagles 30-19. Columbia City, which drops to 2-7 with its fourth straight loss, shot just 12-of-36 from the field and also had 18 turnovers.

The trio of Jennifer Walker-Crawford, Nikki Grose and Lindsay Baker once again led the way for Warsaw. Senior standout Walker-Crawford netted a game-high 18 points on 8-of-12 shooting and also had six rebounds. Grose was a perfect 7-of-7 from the field in scoring 15 points to go with a game-high nine rebounds. Baker added 11 points and five rebounds for the winners. Melanie Holladay chipped in with eight points for coach Michelle Harter’s unbeaten squad.

Emily Whiteleather had eight points and eight rebounds to lead the Eagles. Alyssa Hansen scored seven points and Aubrey Wright and Hannah Schnorr each had six for Columbia City.

Warsaw also improved to a perfect 7-0 on the junior varsity side with a 33-12 win Tuesday night. Megan Kratzsch scored nine points and Courtney Farling had eight to lead coach Mindy Stookey’s undefeated team.

Warsaw (7-0, 1-0) hosts Northern Lakes Conference foe Wawasee Saturday night. The JV game begins at 6 p.m. Columbia City (2-7) plays at East Noble Saturday evening.
