Second ‘Hardship’ Residence Approved By BZA
Kosciusko County Board of Zoning Appeals held its regular monthly meeting Tuesday in Warsaw, the last meeting for 2012.
Among the items considered by the BZA was a petition by Andrea Labarbera for a variance to permit construction of a second permanent residence on one tract of ground. The property is located on CR 925 East, south of CR 500 North in Tippecanoe Township.
Labarbera has a mother with a medical condition and wants to have another home built for her. The BZA approved the petition with the condition the second home is removed once no longer needed or the situation is resolved in some other way, such as by rezoning the land.
In other business:
• Jennifer Brown’s petition was approved that would permit allowing the sale of a residential lot with only an accessory structure and as a lawful non-conforming use with less than 10 feet between adjacent structures. As a condition to the approval, an agreement must be reached to maintain 10 feet between the structures. The property is on CR 300 East, southwest of EMS T30 Lane in Plain Township.
• Peggy Skirvin’s petition to permit the construction of an open carport 3.6 feet from the west side property line and 26 feet from the east right of way was approved. Her property is on EMS B73 Lane, north of Barbee Road in Tippecanoe Township.
• Michael Thompson’s petition was approved for an exception to allow a home based business, in this case concrete and masonry, on land zoned agricultural. His property is on Epworth Forest Road, west of CR 850 East in Tippecanoe Township. As a condition to the approval, all materials must be stored inside.
