Dorothy E. Thurin
Dorothy E. (Polk) Thurin, 93, Plymouth, and formerly of the Culver Community died at 9:20 p.m., Oct. 5, 2017, at Miller’s Merry Manor, Plymouth, where she had been in declining health.
She was born on Aug. 10, 1924 in Pittsburg, Penn. to John Polk and Rose (Wesolek) Polk. She had lived in the Culver community since 1961
On June 29, 1946 in Lyons, Illinois she married Theodore Ernest Thurin and together they shared nearly 70 years of marriage. He preceded her on April 3, 2016
Dorothy was a housewife and homemaker, she had also worked at the Starke County Hospital as a cook, and a book keeper at Taitels Clothing Factory, Knox. She was a member of St. Mary’s of the Lake Catholic Church, Culver. She was a former member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Culver; and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Finney-Shilling VFW Post #6919, Culver. She was a graduate Des Plains High School class of 1942, Des Plains, Ill.
Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Linda J. (Charles) Redinger, Argos; her grandchildre: Rose (Dean) Dodson, Walkerton; Charles (Kelly) Redinger, Plymouth; Ted (Jenny) Redinger, Argos; Bill (Alice) Redinger, Elkhart; and nine great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her P\parents, and great granddaughter, Emma Redinger; three brothers, and five sisters.
