SYRACUSE — The 2017 Syracuse Lamppost Decorating contest will be sponsored by The Mail-Journal. The contest is open to all Syracuse businesses that can choose to get a creative fall theme rolling by dressing up a lamppost or store front by Saturday, Oct. 28.

Three people, one from the Syracuse-Wawasee Chamber of Commerce and two from The Papers Inc., will judge Sunday, Oct. 29, and Monday, Oct. 30. The winner will then be announced in The Mail-Journal’s Nov. 1 edition.

The top three spots will be awarded cash prizes with first place at $100, second place $75, and third place $25.

There won’t be a set criteria, allowing businesses to break free of their boxes and go all out with fresh ideas. Participating businesses are requested to not use tape on lampposts as it can cause paint damage.

To be included in the judging, call (574) 457-3666.
