Students and staff gather to show their support of cancer survivors and victims’ during the annual pink-out spirit day.

WARSAW — Staff and students at Warsaw Community High School donned pink t-shirts in support of breast cancer awareness at the Friday, Sept. 29, football game against Wawasee High School. Though the teams faced off on the field, both schools worked together before and during the game to raise funds for the cause.

At WCHS, funds were raised through various spirit days and events including a staff jeans day, the sale pink t-shirts, collections in the cafeteria for student donations and collections at the football game.

“I am very proud of our students and staff for these fundraising efforts,” noted WCHS Principal Troy Akers. “Cancer affects nearly all of us in some way or another. To see this kind of unity is yet another example of how we, at WCS, continuously strive to enrich the lives of others.”

The annual event raised a total of $3,085.15 with Wawasee raising additional funds of their own. These funds will be donated to the Kosciusko County Cancer Care Fund. Thank you to our students, staff and community for your support in raising money for this cause.
