Tigers, Vikings, Warriors Compete In VB Invite
ROLLING PRAIRIE – The Warsaw volleyball team hosted the Tiger Invitational at the Dunes Operation Center Saturday.
The Tigers beat Wheeler 25-17, 27-29, 15-11. Lexie Day had 12 kills, while Hanna Leach had eight and Kennedy Lauck and Katie Swanson six each in the win. Kacy Bragg had 32 assists and three aces, while Day and Erin Peugh each had 10 digs. Emali Grose, Betty Barnett and Elizabeth Schmidt each had two aces.
New Prairie beat the Tigers 25-17, 20-25, 15-8. Day led Warsaw with eight kills, while Leach had five and Bragg and Swanson four each. Day and Grose each had an ace and Bragg had 20 assists. Peugh had 14 digs and Grose 10 and Leach two solo blocks.
Michigan City beat Warsaw 25-20, 25-21. The duo of Day and Leach each had six kills and Bragg five. Day had an ace, Bragg 16 assist and Lauck one solo and two assisted blocks.
Warsaw plays at Concord in its conference and regular season finale Thursday night.
The Wawasee volleyball team went 1-3 in the huge tournament. The Warriors beat Goshen 2-1 and lost to Mishawaka Marian 2-0, Triton 2-1 and Garrett 2-0.
Hannah Gaerte led the Warriors with 16 kills on the day. Hannah Marie-Lamle had six kills, while Peyton Rookstool and Elizabeth Kleopfer five. Kleopfer had 18 assists and Bethany Flannery 11. Lamle had three blocks and Janae Hapner two. Roofstool had 11 aces and Klopfer nine. Tiffany Koble had 33 digs and Rookstool 17.
The Wawasee JV team was also 1-3 in the tourney. The Warriors beat South Central and lost to Warsaw, Glenn and New Prairie. Ava Rush had 12 kills and 23 digs.
Wawasee plays at West Noble Wednesday and hosts NorthWood Thursday.
Tippecanoe Valley went 2-2 in the invite. The Vikings beat both North Judson-San Pierre (25-16, 13-25, 15-13) and Wheeler (25-13, 22-25, 15-13) in three games but fell to New Prairie (25-18, 25-15) and Mishawaka Marian (25-18, 25-14).
Setter Emily Peterson was named to the all-tournament team for Valley, which moved to 20 wins at 20-10.
The JV Vikings also finished 2-2, beating Hebron (25-10, 25-22) and Triton (25-13, 25-20) but losing to Goshen (25-16, 25-22) and Judson (24-25, 25-19, 15-8). Valley’s JV moves to 19-8.
Valley plays at Rochester Monday night.
