WARSAW — A groundbreaking ceremony for Warsaw Rotary Park will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 29 at the corner of West Center Street and West Market Street (future site of the park, near the Warsaw Public Works Department office).  Construction of the park will begin this fall and will continue over the next couple years as funds become available.

Warsaw Rotary Park will be a new trailhead park, serving Warsaw’s west side with vehicle and bicycle parking, green space, a bicycle repair station, a covered pavilion and either playground equipment or a rock wall.  This new trailhead park will also support the Ride+Walk Warsaw+Winona Lake master plan that was adopted Feb. 4, 2013 by the Warsaw Common Council.

The project is a partnership between the Warsaw Rotary Club and the City of Warsaw.  The Warsaw Parks and Recreation Department purchased the property earlier this year.  The Warsaw Rotary Club will fund development of the park.  The first phase of the park will focus on the pavilion.  The second phase will introduce playground equipment.

Warsaw Rotary has committed to raising at least $30,000 for the project.  So far, they have donated $25,179 toward the project.  Several fundraisers have already been completed.  An ongoing fundraiser allows individuals to purchase 4×8” or 8×8” pavers to honor loved ones or veterans.  The pavers will be used in the park.  Individuals interested in purchasing a paver can visit https://polarengraving.com/WarsawrotaryClub.
