BOWLING GREEN, KY. — Make-A-Wish Ohio Kentucky and Indiana presented Jacob Dockery from Morgantown with his dream to be a guitar star in Bowling Green today.

“As parents you want your children to have a normal childhood, and unfortunately, his hasn’t been,” says Jacob’s mother, Donna Dockery.

Seventeen year-old Jacob Dockery looks and acts like your average teen, but his is life far from normal.

“He suffers from chronic pain every single day,” says Donna.

The teenager has suffered from a rare gastrointestinal disease since birth, and there’s no cure.

“He’s 17 and has had 27 surgeries,” says Donna.

The first time he picked up a guitar was only four years ago, and since then, he has rarely put it down.

“It helps to kinda keep myself occupied when my stomach’s hurting and stuff,” says Jacob.

Today, Jacob thought he was coming to Bowling Green to sign papers at the A-Frame. Instead, he walked into his dream.

“It’s pretty great. I mean, I’ve always wanted this stuff and you know, I don’t have the money or anything to get any of it…so yeah it’s pretty great. I’m happy,” says Jacob.

He received two different guitars. One electric-acoustic and one electric along with amps and equipment to help perfect his craft.

“It’s an outlet because he doesn’t get to play sports,” says Donna.

The soft spoken rock star was in his element playing on stage, and checking out his fancy new gear.

Even the Make-A-Wish Ohio in Southcentral Kentucky reached milestones.

“We’ve never had a guitar wish before,” says volunteer, Pam Ritter.

Ritter, the only Bowling Green volunteer stands with Carolyn Cole, another regional volunteer. Both of them wish they could make every single dream come true.

“There’s a lot of kids in Kentucky and there’s more and more every day that get introduced to make a wish,” says Ritter.

Nonetheless, Make-A-Wish is bringing light into the darkness these kids don’t deserve.

“We have a lot of down days, we haven’t got to have a whole lot of celebrations where he’s been surprised or happy. Today is probably by far the greatest in that book,” says Donna.
