Triton Offers Gratitude For Support During Tough Week

BOURBON – It was a week many at Triton would like to forget, but also a week that showed there is still plenty of compassion, good will and positive human spirit within the communities in northern Indiana.
Triton athletic director Mason McIntire released a letter of appreciation Monday afternoon showing gratitude for the support shown in the wake of Cameron Scarberry’s passing:
“In the wake of the recent loss of Triton High School junior, Cameron Scarberry, the Triton Athletic Department and the Triton football program would like to take the opportunity to publicly thank those individuals who reached out to our school and our football program in the days that followed Cameron’s passing. We felt a tremendous comfort in knowing that so many people held us in their thoughts and prayers.
“Specifically, the Triton Athletic Department and the Triton football program would like to thank Pioneer High School, Pioneer Athletic Director John Bingaman, and Pioneer head coach Adam Berry. Their flexibility and kindness demonstrated was a true testament to the character of their school, their community, and their football program. The Triton Athletic Department and Triton football program cannot find the words to truly express our gratitude.
“In the face of tragedy, high school sports can become real small. That was the certainly the case for us last week. The “game” became secondary to the loss we felt in our hearts. But the “game” also allowed us to begin the healing process and the support from people around the state was tremendous.
“Thanks to anyone who sent a card or an encouraging note, phone call, or e-mail. Thanks to a dozen or so LaVille football players who showed up to Cameron’s funeral, wearing their LaVille football jersey. Thanks to those who donated money to support Cameron’s family. Thanks to anyone who kept Triton High School in your thoughts and prayers, you will never know how important they were and how much they were felt!”
