Wawasee’s freshman volleyball team claimed a title at Saturday’s Central Noble Invite.
After escaping East Noble 22-25, 25-22, 15-11, Wawasee moved on to beat Northwestern 25-11, 25-9 and Winamac 25-13, 25-9, then beat Columbia City 25-19, 25-22 to earn the hardware.
The 17-2 Lady Warriors had plenty of big stat days, led by Emma Dippon’s 28 kills, nine aces and three blocks. Morgan Heche led with nine digs, Delaney Hare had 13 aces and Catherine Ondrla had 17 helpers to go with six digs. Bailey Mayhew added 11 kills and two blocks, Danielle Jenkins had six digs and Corin Nyce had 11 assists.
The varsity team went 1-3 at the Crown Point Invite.
In pool play, Wawasee lost to St. Joe 25-5, 25-11, Lowell 25-14, 25-18, and East Noble 25-10, 23-25, 15-13 before taking out Whiting 25-20, 25-21 in the consolation round.
Stat leaders for the Lady Warriors (4-20) included Elizabeth Kleopfer with 22 assists, nine kills and five aces, Peyton Rookstool with 18 digs, 12 kills and five aces, Beth Flannery with 19 assists, Brooke Heche with 35 digs, Janae Hapner with nine kills and Hannah Gaerte with eight digs.

Plymouth’s JV football team kept Friday night’s beat going with a 34-0 win Saturday morning against the Warriors.

Wawasee falls to 2-4 overall with a home meeting with Warsaw for next Saturday.
