Boys Soccer

Wawasee earned a notable 4-0 win at Lakeland Thursday afternoon.

Against a potential sectional opponent, the Warriors jumped on the Lakers early and made the lead stand up. Ryan Edington grabbed the first goal on an assist from Dylan Dewitt, and Ethan Carey gave Wawasee its second of the half with a tally, helped by Chris Pena.

Dewitt and Pena flipped the script in the second half and got their own goals, Pena assisted on Dewitt’s strike, and Eric Yankosky feeding Pena for the fourth strike of the match.

Dillon Drake earned the clean slate for his first shutout of the season.

The Warrior JV finally got off the mat with a win, 1-0, against Lakeland. Caleb Young got the goal, assisted by Jace Mishler. Wawasee JV moves to 1-9-3.

Wawasee moves to 5-4-3 overall and looks to a showdown in the Northern Lakes Conference against Warsaw in Syracuse Saturday afternoon.

Girls Soccer

Wawasee suffered another tough loss in the Northern Lakes Conference in a 7-0 loss against Plymouth.

Madison Smith had a pair of goals and an assist for the Pilgrims and Cece Robinson earned the shutout in net.

Graceanne Kerlin made seven saves for the Lady Warriors.

Wawasee falls to 3-10 overall and 0-4 in the NLC, having been outscored 31-0 in conference contests this season. The Lady Warriors will have a tall test again Saturday when Warsaw comes calling Saturday morning.

Football

NorthWood edged Wawasee, 20-18, Thursday in freshman football.

Parker Young had a good game for the Warriors with a rushing touchdown and a interception return for a score. Kameron Salazar added a rushing touchdown.

Wawasee (1-5) will take on Plymouth next week.
