Warsaw SportsGirls Golf

The Warsaw girls golf team tuned up for postseason play with a pair of wins.

The host Tigers shot 192 to defeat Triton and Whitko in the final regular-season match at the Stonehenge Golf Club.

Triton shot a 209 and Whitko a 243 in the triangular.

Grayson Kilburn shot a 45 to lead the way for coach Tad Nieter’s Tigers.

Izzy Ray shot a 46 for Warsaw, while Delaney Wihebrink had a 49. Madelyn Ray shot a 52 and Miriam Hagg a 53 for the winners.

The trio of Kate Gardner, Megan McFarland and Alysha May each had a 52 to pace Triton. Whytnie Miller had a 53 and Delanie Groves a 61 for the Trojans.

Bailey Wright shot a 53 to pace Whitko. McKayla Compton had a 62 and Erin Starkweather a 63 for the Wildcats. Summer West shot a 65 and Kayce Sims a 68.

Abby Fishel of Lakeland Christian Academy was the individual medalist on the day with a 43.

Breanna Smith of LCA shot a 66.

Warsaw honored its lone senior Kennedy Patton at its final regular-season home match.

The Warsaw junior varsity shot a 221. Anna Morgan led the way with a 50. Valerie Messmore had a 51 and Julia Hildebrand a 56. Brooklyn Fitzgerald shot a 64 and Kennedy Patton a 69.

Warsaw will host its own sectional on Saturday at Stonehenge.

Cross Country

The Warsaw boys cross country team continued to roll right along.

Lucas Howett led the way as the Tigers beat Concord 23-34 and NorthWood 17-45 in Northern Lakes Conference action at WCHS.

Howett claimed first place in a top time of 16:29 as the Tigers remained unbeaten in league competition.

Xavi Ramirez of the Tiger was third overall in a time of 16:51. Taylor Mills was fifth overall in 17:01 with Justin Fleming seventh in 17:25 and Sam Lechlitner ninth in 17:43.

Also placing in the top 20 for coach Jim Mills’ squad were Hunter Thompson in 11th (17:54), Eric Williamson in 13th (18:01), Nathaniel Gottschalk in 14th (18:02) and Jacob Kissling in 18th (18:28).

Jack Horoho was 22nd overall in 18:39 for Warsaw, followed by teammates Kennis Dye in 25th (18:49), Tanner Stiver 28th (18:52), Ryan Bonebrake 31st (18:55), Austin Fleming 34th (19:05), Nick Bazzoni 38th (19:27), Luke Howard 39th (19:31), Isaaic Mitchell 40th (19:32), Anthony Bass 47th (19:43), Gary Keyes 49th (20:00), Noah Marshall 50th (20:08), Santos Zamarripa 54th (20:20), Hunter Metzger 57th (20:30), Jacob Denzer 58th (20:33), Ian Peloza 60th (20:57), Andrew Furey 61st (20:58),  Jack May 64th (21:21), Ethan Thompson 65th (21:25),  Jacob Dachenhaus 68th (21:31), Jorge Alvarez 70th (21:35), Chase Byron (22:20), Keller Swartzentruber 75th (22:32), Nathaniel Taylor (22:55), Thane Baker 78th (22:56), Jeremy Campbell 80th (22:58), Timothy Farner 83rd (23:10),  Victor Mejia 85th (23:57) and Alejandro Cervantes 90th (27:49).

The Warsaw girls squad also posted a pair of wins, beating Concord 23-38 and NorthWood 22-35.

Mia Beckham of the Tigers won the girls’ race for coach Matt Campbell’s team.

Remi Beckham of Warsaw was fifth overall with Emma Bohnenkamper sixth. Taylor Gunter placed eighth with Carmen Yoder 10th. Sierra Palmer was 12th and Alex Hermann 13th for the Tigers.

The Warsaw ladies are now 4-1 in NLC competition.

Warsaw will compete in the New Prairie Invitational on Saturday.

Volleyball

The Warsaw volleyball team picked up a 3-0 win at Columbia City.

The Tigers won the non-conference match 25-8, 25-18, 25-15.

Lexie Day powered the offense with 14 kills for the Tigers. Kacy Bragg had seven kills for Warsaw.

The trio of Bragg, Kennedy Lauck and Betty Barnett each had two blocks. Erin Peugh led the defense with 17 digs. Elizabeth Schmidt had five aces.

The Warsaw junior varsity team beat the Eagles 25-24, 25-19. Gwyn Bellamy led the way with eight kills and five aces. McKenna Hawblitzel had 10 digs and Kylie Prater six for Warsaw.

The Warsaw freshman squad topped City 22-25, 25-20, 15-9. Allison Hartman had six kills and Chloe Riley five for the winners. Rylee Kaufman led the team in digs and Kendra Love had three aces.

Warsaw will host conference foe Plymouth Thursday night.

Boys Tennis

The Warsaw boys tennis team blanked Wawasee 5-0.

The Tigers lost a total of just nine games on the three singles courts to defeat the Warriors in the Northern Lakes Conference match in Syracuse.

Colton Lind topped Zach Leedy 6-0, 6-1 at No. 1 singles play to pace the Tigers.

Kyle Bartol defeated Graham Perek 6-2, 6-2 at No. 2 singles action. Caleb Williams completed the singles sweep with a 6-2, 6-3 win over Jacob Krugman at No. 3 singles.

The team of Nolan Knight and Reuben Williams won 6-0, 6-0 over Evan Richey and Jake Cowan at No. 2 doubles.

Warsaw also won at No. 1 doubles as Bailey Buhrt and Spencer Britton rallied to beat Brady Robinson and Dylan Staley 6-7 (8-10), 6-3, 6-0.

Warsaw won the junior varsity action by a 3-0 count. Winners for the JV Tigers were Jarett Orr and Hayden Anderson in singles play and the doubles team of Nick Marsh and Brian Elliott.

Warsaw hosts NorthWood and Wawasee plays at Elkhart Memorial in NLC matches Thursday night.

Lakeview Volleyball

The Lakeview Middle School 8th grade volleyball team beat Milford 25-23, 25-16.

Cora West had seven kills and three aces to pace the winners. Sara Peugh had two kills, while Abbie Porter had two kills and nine assists. Kylie Smith two aces and Anna Gustafson three kills.

The Lakeview 7th grade team won 25-11, 22-25, 15-4.

Madi Desenberg had nine aces and Mallory Mulligan eight for the winners. Caitlyn Patrick had six kills as Lakeview improved to 10-1.

Lakeview Football

The Lakeview 8th grade football team lost to Wawasee 20-14.

Ayden Sherman led the team with a rushing touchdown and a kick return for a score to go with 100 yards rushing. Jack Fitzgerald led the defense with two interceptions and seven tackles.

Lakeview plays Bremen next Tuesday night.

The Lakeview 7th grade team defeated Milford 34-18.

Jonny Barrett led the way with two touchdowns, a two-point conversion and over 100 yards rushing.

Reilley Wood had two touchdowns and 65 yards rushing. Kyle Schnackenberg had a touchdown and a two-point conversion and 40 yard rushing.

Schnackenberg had an interception and Devlin Duff two tackles for loss. Omar Ponce, German Flores and Brock Fraley led the defense. The trio of Ponce, Flores and Bradyn Lowe each had a kick recovery.
