Ruth Clow-Dempsey, 89, Syracuse, passed away on Sept. 5, 2017, at her home.

She was born on March 13, 1928 in Marion to Willis and Lillian (Stackhouse) Thomas.

She graduated from Marion High School, and then Ball State University earning a degree in nursing.  On June 26, 1949 she married Roy Clow who preceded her in 1997. On Aug. 12, 2001 she married Robert Dempsey who survives. She was a lifetime ob-gyn nurse, retiring from Fairhaven Physicians of Goshen in February of 1993.

Along with her husband Robert Dempsey, she is survived by her four children: Kaye (Tom) Gardner of Dallas, Texas; Deborah Clow of Indianapolis; Geoffrey (Terri) Clow of Plainfield; and Brett (Sue) Clow of Syracuse; eleven grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren; one sister, Becky (Tom) Prior of Eau Claire, Wisc.

She was preceded by one sister and one brother.

There will be a Memorial service to honor Ruth’s life at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 9 at the Quaker Haven Chapel located at 91 EMS D16 Lane, Syracuse, IN 46567 with Pastor Dan Burnham from the Dewart Lake Community Friends Church officiating.  Visitation will be two hours prior to the service from noon until 2.
