Warsaw SportsGirls Golf

Madelyn Ray led the way as Warsaw remained unbeaten in league play on the links.

Ray shot a 44 as the host Tigers cruised past Plymouth 189-220 in Northern Lakes Conference action at the Stonehenge Golf Club.

Warsaw imporves to 10-2 overall and moves to 3-0 in conference play.

The duo of Izzy Ray and Grayson Kilburn each shot a 48 for the winners. Delaney Wihebrink came in with a 49 and Miriam Hagg a 52 for the Tigers.

Brittney Klotz led Plymouth with a 48.

The Warsaw junior varsity team shot 223, while Plymouth did not field a complete JV team. Valerie Messmore led the JV Tigers with a 54. Julia Hildebrand had a 55, while Anna Morgan and Cassidy Good each had a 57 and Brooklyn Fitzgerald a 62.

Warsaw returns to NLC play on Tuesday at Goshen versus the host RedHawks and NorthWood.

Boys Tennis

The Warsaw boys tennis team rolled past Elkhart Memorial in its league opener.

The host Tigers lost a total of just nine games in blanking the Crimson Chargers 5-0 in NLC action.

Spencer Britton led the way for the Tigers with a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 2 singles play.

Caleb Williams posted a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 3 singles for the Tigers. Colton Lind grabbed a 6-0, 6-3 win at No. 1 singles for Warsaw.

The No. 1 doubles team of Bailey Buhrt and Kyler Bartol won 6-1, 6-1 for the hosts, as did the No. 2 doubles duo of Nolan Knight and Reuben Williams.

Warsaw improves to 3-1 overall and goes to 1-0 in NLC action.

Warsaw won the junior varsity action 5-0. Winners for the JV Tigers were Jarett Orr, Michael Ray, Hayden Anderson and Brandon Chan in singles play and the doubles team of Nick Marsh and Brian Elliott.

The Tigers play at NLC foe Goshen Tuesday night.

Boys Soccer

The Warsaw boys soccer team opened conference play with a 3-1 loss to Plymouth.

The host Tigers fell behind 2-0 in the Northern Lakes Conference match and could not recover.

Warsaw, which drops to 3-1-1 overall, entered play Thursday night having outscored its first four non-conference foes by a 20-0 margin.

Plymouth got a goal in the fourth minute from Jesus Jimenez and led 1-0 at halftime. The Pilgrims made it 2-0 on a score by Jorge Calix.

Warsaw broke through on a goal from Eric O’cock to make it 2-1 before Plymouth scored at the final horn.

The Warsaw junior varsity team won 3-0 to improve to 2-0-2 on the season. Adam Brown tallied all three goals for the JV Tigers with assists from Eliud Mejia and Landon Voss.

Warsaw will play at Penn Saturday with the JV match at noon, followed by the varsity contest at 2 p.m.

Lakeview Football

The Lakeview Middle School 7th grade football team beat Lincoln 8-0.

Reilley Wood led the winners with a touchdown, two-point conversion and 60 yards rushing. Tucker Curtis had 90 yards and Reagan Kauffman 20 yards rushing. Curtis had an interception and Bradyn Lowe a fumble recovery. Top tacklers for Lakeview were Aden Hanlon, Omar Ponce and Devlin Duff.

Curtis was also honored as the Athlete of the Week for the team.
