MENTONE — Franklin Lamar Sherrod, 34, 2774 S. 900W, Mentone, was arrested and charged with two counts of counterfeiting, level 6 felonies, and two counts of theft, class A misdemeanors.

Court documents state Warsaw Police responded to reports of counterfeit bills being used at Clearwater Carwash and at Wilby’s Marathon Gas Station in Warsaw. The two investigating officers checked the two counterfeit bills and found the serial numbers were identical.

Officials at Clearwater were able to obtain a license plate number of the vehicle Sherrod was driving and provided the information to police. Sherrod was also observed on a surveillance camera at Wilby’s driving the same vehicle and purchasing gasoline and cigars and paying with the counterfeit money.
