NORTH WEBSTER — A male was seen leaving a local grocery store with three cases of beer. The grocery store employees immediately knew he was stealing because Indiana does not sell alcohol on Sundays.

Terry Lee Bailey, 46, 115 EMS W30 Lane, North Webster, is being charged with a sentence enhanced theft, a level 6 felony.
On July 16, employees at New Market in North Webster reported a theft. They witnessed Bailey leave through the south door of the store carrying three cases of beer. One employee stated he knew something was wrong because it was Sunday and beer is not sold on Sundays.
A witness attempted to stop Bailey but he got into a vehicle being driven by a female and left south on SR 13. The responding officer recognized the car identified and went to the owner of the vehicle. The owner advised that her daughter, Cherry White, had possession of the car.
On July 17, the officer was able to locate and talk to both Bailey and White about the theft. The two admitted they needed money so they stole beer and steaks from the grocery store. The two then sold the items to a man in Syracuse for half price.
Both Bailey and White already have previous theft convictions.
Bailey and White were booked into the Kosciusko County Jail on Aug. 15.
