Sharon S. Woodcox

Sharon S. Woodcox, 68, Rochester was surrounded by her loving family when she passed away at 2:24 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2017 at Parkview Regional Medical Center of Fort Wayne. This followed a sudden illness.

In Fulton County, on Sept. 7, 1948, Sharon Sue Cunningham was born. She was a treasured daughter of to Joseph and Joan Cunningham. Growing up, Sharon shared her childhood with a brother Joe and two sisters Nancy and Diane.

On May 24, 1966, at the First Church of God, Sharon and Raymond De Lonzo “Lonnie” Woodcox were married. They shared 51 years of life’s adventures. Together they raised eight sons and were blessed with two more generations added to their family tree.

From her kitchen command post, Sharon embraced preparations for the return of her family for the holidays and special celebrations. Known for her speed and accuracy in peeling potatoes, she was virtually second to none.   Some of her specialties were turkey and dressing, apple dumplings, and potato salad.  She also was remembered for her dynamite zucchini relish.  As an all-American wife and mother, Sharon was always there for her sons.  She looked forward to the visits of her grandchildren and the great-grands.

Left to cherish Sharon’s memory are her husband: Lonnie, seven sons: James Woodcox, Michael Woodcox, Benjamin Woodcox and wife Kelly, Christopher Woodcox and wife Misty, Cory Woodcox and wife Annie, Kevin Woodcox and wife Faye, Justin Woodcox; 22 grandchildren, seven great grandchildren; two sisters: Nancy Bailey and husband Charles, Diane Muffley and husband Sam and several nieces and nephews. Preceding Sharon in death are her parents, a son, Timothy Woodcox and a brother, Joseph Cunningham.

A celebration of the life of Mrs. Sharon Sue  Woodcox will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 14 in the Good Family Funeral Home, 1200 West 18th St., Rochester. Sharon’s son Pastor Ben Woodcox will officiate. Friends may visit with her family from 9-11 a.m. on Monday in the funeral home.
