MildredMildred L. Judd, 93, a resident of South Whitley, Ind., passed away Saturday morning, March 2, 2013, at her home.

She was born on April 8, 1919, in Huntington County, Ind., a daughter of the late Avery and Florence (Keiser) George.

On March 25, 1939, she was united in marriage to Lester A. Judd. They made their first home in Thorncreek Township, Ind.

As a small child, the family moved to Jefferson Township, Whitley County, Ind. where she spent her formative years. She graduated from the Jefferson Center High School and then attended Grace College, Winona Lake, Ind. In early 1952, she and her husband moved to Cleveland Township, Whitley County. In 1977, the couple moved to Cherokee Village, Ark., returning to the area in 1993.

She began her work career with the former Blue Bell, Columbia City, Ind. She later joined Heckman Bindery, North Manchester, Ind., where she became a supervisor retiring in 1977 with 17 years of service. She was a member of the United Methodist Church of South Whitley.

She is survived by a brother: Lester George, Fort Wayne, Ind.; a sister: Irene Smith, Columbia City; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband; a daughter: Nancy Judd; and a brother: Elmer George.

Visitation and the funeral service took place on Tuesday, March 5, at Smith & Sons Miller Chapel, South Whitley, with the Reverend Toni Brewster officiating.
