WARSAW — A local man was led officers on a police chase after they discovered him near the workplace of a victim who had a protective order against him.

Steven Keith Fisher, 55, 1570 East CR 300N, Warsaw, is being charged with resisting law enforcement with the use of a vehicle, invasion of privacy, criminal trespass and reckless driving.
On Saturday, Aug. 5, officers with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department received a call regarding Fisher circling the parking lot of Comfort Inn. Fisher had an active protective order for a Comfort Inn employee and was previously given a trespass warning for the Comfort Inn property.
An officer responded and witnessed Fisher driving a Chevrolet Silverado in the Comfort Inn parking lot. The officer ordered Fisher to stop and activated his emergency lights. Fisher looked at the officer and disregarded all requests to stop his vehicle. Fisher then exited onto US 30 where he disregarded other officers responding to the scene.
Fisher led police on a chase where he ran two red lights, swerved in and out of lanes of traffic and exceeded the posted speed limit. At one point, Fisher conducted a U-turn to avoid stop sticks before finally coming to a stop on Old Road 30.
A felony stop was initiated and Fisher was ordered to exit the vehicle and lay on the ground. Fisher continued to resist officers as they tried to place him into handcuffs and eventually a taser was deployed. After this, officers were able to take control of Fisher’s hands and place him into handcuffs.
Fisher later advised that he was going to leave town and wanted to see the victim one more time before he left. He avoided police because he knew he was not supposed to be at the Comfort Inn or have contact with the victim. This was not the first time that Fisher has attempted to contact the victim since the protective order has been in place.
