
Jack F. Lewis, 81, Rochester, passed away at 9 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 5, 2017 at Visiting Nurse Hospice Home of Fort Wayne.
In Fulton County, on Oct. 16, 1935, Jackie Franklin Lewis was born. He was a treasured son of Lee A. and Martha Washington McGraw Lewis. Growing up as one of the nine Lewis children he shared his childhood with five sisters and four brothers.
Patriotism beckoned and Jack answered the call serving with the United States Army during the Korean War. His service time was initiated on Oct. 7 1954. He served until he was honorably discharged on Sept. 19, 1956. Jack continued his stint of services as a reserve until October 6, 1962
Dec. 22, 1975, Jack married the love of his life Miss Laura Jean Sayger Adams. Their union was solemnized in Rochester, before Justice of the Peace Thelma Carr. They shared 41 years of life’s adventures. Sadly, she passed away on July 14, 2017.
In earlier years as a truck driving professional, Jack enjoyed the freedom of the open road. He was a devoted member of the Trinity United Methodist Church. Jack enjoyed studying the “word,” in the co-ed study group. He also enjoyed visits from his family.
Left to cherish Jack’s memories are children: Ted Lewis Sr. and wife Brandy of Colorado; Christina Miller and companion Rod Talbott of Rochester; Kelly Rene of South Bend; Jodi Lines of Warsaw; step-children: Larry Joe Adams and wife Shirley of Coleman, Texas; Ken Adams and wife Robin of Warsaw; Peggy Stover and husband Kerry of Pierceton; numerous grandchildren; six great grandchildren; a sister, Eva Belle E. Enyart of Rochester; a brother, Clyde Lewis and wife Jane of Logansport; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding Jack in death are his parents; wife; grandson Rylan Miller; three Lewis brothers: Lee A., Raymond, Harvey; and four sisters: Louise Cook, Evelyn Ballenger, Harriet Herrell, Sarah Young.
Pastor Gail Law will officiate services. Interment will be in the Athens-Hoover Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted by the Fulton County Veteran’s Honor Guard and the US Army Honor Team.
