Tippecanoe Valley Hosts Teacher Orientation Day

AKRON — Tippecanoe Valley Community School’s held a  Teacher Orientation Day on Thursday, Aug. 3. The day gave teachers a chance to get ready for the new school year and get recognized for their hard work. 

Tippecanoe Valley High School Guidance Counselor Sarah Tillman and Building Trades Instructor Wes Backus received perfect attendance awards for having zero sick days and zero personal days during the 2016-17 school year. This is the second year in a row Backus received an award for perfect attendance and received a gift card to Cabela’s as a result.

Tippecanoe Valley Middle School 6th grade social studies teacher Niki Early (left), TVMS language arts teacher Lynette Shoemaker (center), and Tippecanoe Valley High School industrial technology teacher Dan Franklin were honored for 25 years of service. They were each recognized and presented with a pen and pencil set.

Finally, the school corporation welcomed seven new educators to Tippecanoe Valley. Each one of them attended New Teacher Orientation Day on Monday, July 31, and then attended Teacher Orientation Day on Aug. 3 with the rest of the staff.
