KOSCIUSKO — The votes have been pouring in by the thousands across the region to find the best tacos in Indiana’s Cool North. Over the past ten days, Northern Indiana residents and visitors have been voting in each of the seven Taco Wars to find the best taco in each participating county. Today Kosciusko County is proud to announce their Taco War champion, Taco Jalisco Food Truck received over 360 votes to secure the title of 2017 Best Taco in Kosciusko County. Coming in second was Taqueria El Comal and third place went to La Troje Mexican Restaurant & Bar, both of Warsaw. Jalisco’s will now move on to the regional final to compete alongside the six other county winners, to see who will be crowned Best Taco in Indiana’s Cool North.

The voting for the regional round will begin at noon Friday, Aug. 4, and will be hosted at the regional website IndianasCoolNorth.com/TacoWars. The regional round lasts ten days and at noon Aug. 14, we will all know who has been voted Best Taco in Indiana’s Cool North. The Kosciusko County Convention and Visitors Bureau is proud to announce that in partnership with WIOE 101.1 FM Radio a chance to win a 20-minute helicopter ride in the “Chopper 101” will be taken from those that vote for Taco Jalisco Food Truck in the regional round.

Let customers’ voices be heard!  Voters can log in daily to vote to make sure their favorite restaurant gets the credit it deserves. Voters can keep checking the website and Indiana’s Cool North social media pages for a chance to win prizes through mini contests held throughout the voting process. Voters are encouraged to sign in and vote each day for a chance to win the grand prize of a $25 gift certificate to each of the seven restaurants participating in the regional round. The seven winning restaurants that will vie for Best Taco in Indiana’s Cool North are Mila’s Mini Market in Plymouth, Woodfire Meat Market and Deli in Valparaiso, Cabos Ice Cream Shop & Café in Michigan City, Los Aces Mexican Food in South Bend, Taco Jalisco Food Truck in Warsaw, Los Primos in Goshen, and Courtside Restaurant Lounge in LaGrange.

Indiana’s Cool North Taco Wars is a joint initiative of the Northern Indiana Tourism Development Commission (NITDC) and its member convention and visitor bureaus in Porter, LaPorte, St. Joseph, Marshall, Koscuisko, Elkhart and LaGrange counties.
