INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) – The ride that malfunctioned at the Ohio State Fair killing one and injuring seven will not come to the Indiana State Fair.

Gov. Eric Holcomb confirmed this morning that the “Fire Ball” was originally going to be at this year’s fair. Fair officials issued a statement earlier this morning saying that after the incident in Ohio, they will not allow it to come to this year’s state fair.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone impacted by the tragic accident at the Ohio State Fair,” the statement said. “As the investigation into the cause of this accident continues, the Indiana State Fair and North American Midway Entertainment have made the decision to not operate the Fire Ball at the 2017 Indiana State Fair.”

A few hours after that announcement was made, State Fire Marshal James Greeson directed all Fire Ball amusement rides in Indiana immediately be taken out of service.
