Thelma Harris, 99, formerly of the Barbee Lake area, passed away on Thursday, June 29, 2017 at  Lakeland Rehabilitation of Milford.

She was born on May 12, 1918 in West Virginia to Alex and Ethel (Taylor) Hargis.

She worked as an assistant librarian for an advertising firm in Chicago. She lived most of her life between Illinois and Indiana. She was a member of the Wawasee Lakeside Chapel.

She is survived by her daughter, Jackie (Pete Gawthrop) McDonald of Syracuse; two grandsons: Kent Carter of Naples, Fla.; and Timothy (Michelle) Carter of Huntertown; two great-grand children: Christopher Boutcher of Warsaw; and Aaron (Sarah) Boutcher of Warsaw; one great-great grandson, Miles Boutcher.

She was preceded by her husband Delmar Harris and her granddaughter Terry Carter-Boutcher.
