AKRON — The ceremony to rename the Akron sledding hill will take place at 2 p.m. July 2 at the Cutshall Park in downtown Akron.

The Akron Town Board, Akron Park Board and the Akron Park Trustees will rename the Akron sledding hill to Marty Mountain, in honor of Marty Gearhart for his 32 years of service to the Akron community. The sledding hill was Gearhart’s vision for the park. He designed and organized the construction of it using the excess dirt from the Akron Elementary construction project.

The event is open to the public. The community is encouraged to attend to show appreciation for Gearheart’s dedication to the community.
