Messer To Be Hoops Assistant At Northeastern State

Grace College SportsTAHLEQUAH, OKLAHOMA – Northeastern State University has hired Heidi Messer as an assistant coach for the women’s basketball program, head coach Fala Bullock announced on Friday.

“Heidi has a very bright future in college coaching,” said Bullock. “She has worked her way up and her experience at the NCAA Division II and III and NAIA level made her a great fit for our RiverHawks program. Heidi has experience working both on the coaching and administrative side coupled with her passion for young people and love of basketball made her an ideal candidate.”

Messer spent the 2016-17 season at the University of Montevallo as an assistant coach and three seasons at Manchester University.  While at Manchester, Messer served as the team’s recruiting coordinator, academic advisor, and oversaw individual player development.  In 2014, Messer was named Senior Women’s Administrator while at Manchester.

Messer served as a graduate assistant for two seasons at Georgetown College (Ky.)  from 2009-11 where she coached two All-Americans, and four All-Conference players.

In 2008-09, Messer began her coaching career as an assistant for her alma mater, Grace College, where she played for two seasons, and was ranked eighth in career assists and served as team captain as a senior.

Before playing for Grace, Messer attended Sinclair Community College (Ohio) where she ranked in the top-10 in 3-point field goal percentage.

Messer graduated with a degree in Health and Physical Education in 2009 at Grace College, and received a Master of Arts in Teacher Leadership from Georgetown College in 2012.

Messer is a native of Waynesville, Ohio.
