Syracuse Fire Department was dispatched to a house fire at 2:03 p.m. Saturday in Syracuse.

Upon arrival at the residence at 605 E. Northshore Dr., fire officials found a working basement fire. Firefighters were able to bring the fire under control with most of the fire damage confined to the basement. The home, however, did sustain heat and smoke damage on first floor.

According to county records, the home is owned by Gary and Alice Kline.

A cause for the fire remains under investigation, according to Syracuse Fire Department Captain Brian Richcreek.

Syracuse Fire Department received mutual aid for manpower from Benton Township Fire Department.
