The shooting occurred at Lot 82 in Shamrock Village.

WARSAW— On Sunday, May 28, just before 4 p.m., emergency responders were called to Shamrock Mobile Home Park on the north side of Warsaw for a juvenile that had been shot. Upon arrival, police located a 15-year-old Warsaw boy, inside the mobile home, with a gunshot wound to the neck. The boy was rushed to Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne and is currently in critical condition.

At this time, Warsaw Police believe the shooting to be accidental; however their investigation was hampered by an attempt to dispose of the handgun, and also by giving police false information.

The initial investigation indicates that multiple people were inside the mobile home and a 9mm handgun was being handled by Amika Bolen when the handgun discharged. After the shooting, Dylan Lawson took the handgun and threw it in the woods near the mobile home park before police arrived. Police recovered the handgun. Also during the initial investigation, the homeowner, and relative of the victim, Sasha Bolen, intentionally gave police the wrong information on who was handling the handgun when it discharged.

Amika Bolen

As a result of the investigation, Warsaw Police have initially charged 22 year old Amika Bolen, of Warsaw, with level 5 felony criminal recklessness for shooting a firearm in a dwelling. She is being held in the Kosciusko County Jail on a $10,250 surety bond. Official charges will be filed by the prosecuting attorney’s office later this week.

Police also charged 21 year old Dylan Lawson, of Warsaw, with level 6 felony obstruction of justice, and also charged 24 year old Sasha Bolen, of Warsaw, with misdemeanor false informing. Both were booked into the Kosciusko County Jail.

This investigation is ongoing.
