Ellen Lee Flenar, 87, of rural Mentone, passed at 12:37 a.m., Saturday, May 13, 2017, at Visiting Nurses and Hospice Home of Fort Wayne, Indiana.

She was born on Nov. 22, 1929 in Plymouth to Forrest and Goldie (Teel) Kesler.

She married on July 26, 1947 in Mentone to Robert D. Flenar, who passed March 9, 2011.

Ellen was a wonderful homemaker and loved her family and taking care of her cat, Otis. She also worked at various jobs outside the home.

She was a 1947 graduate of Mentone High School. She formerly attended the Mentone Church of Christ.

She is survived by her daughters: Diane (Lanny) Idle, South Whitley; Lynn (Roger) Bucher, Fort Wayne; son, Dan (Sherry) Flenar, Columbia City; daughter-in-law: Valerie Flenar, Rochester; 14 grandchildren; 42 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her son, Brett Flenar, and her sisters: Eloise Everman and Freeda Witham.

Vistitation hours are from 4-7 p.m. Friday, May 19, 2017, King Memorial Home, Mentone. The service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 20, also at the home. Pastor Matthew Flenar will officiate. Burial will take place at Mentone Cemetery.
