The Warsaw baseball team dropped a pair at Carroll on Saturday.

The host Chargers took game one 11-1 and swept the twin bill with a 10-0 victory in the nightcap.

Collin Marshall had two hits and Jordan Steffensmeier a double to lead the Tigers in the opener. Braxton Tennant took the pitching loss.

Steffensmier cracked another double in the nightcap for Warsaw,  Matt Francis suffered the loss on the hill.

Warsaw, which stands at 6-16 overall and 3-9 in conference play, plays at Concord Monday night in a league game and hosts Mishawaka Wednesday evening.

The Warsaw junior varsity team split a pair with DeKalb at home Saturday. The Tigers took game one 11-5 and the Barons took the nightcap 7-3.

Ian Glogovsky had four hits and scored three runs in the game one win for the Tigers. The trio of Joe Wilkinson, Noah Burgh and Drake Graham each had two hits and an RBI for the winners. Jacob Lucas got the pitching win.

Burgh slugged a two-run homer in game two for the Tigers. Wilkinson and Tyler Hitchcock each had two hits and an RBI. Burgh took the pitching loss.

The Warsaw JV team sits at 16-6 overall and 10-0 in NLC action.

 

Golf

The Warsaw boys golf team was runner-up in the Culver Academy Invitational on Saturday.

The host Eagles shot a team total of 304 to win the 16-team tournament held at Mystic Hills.

Warsaw shot 312 to place second with Plymouth third at 317, NorthWood fourth at 318 and Winamac fifth at 328. Triton placed sixth and Wawasee was 13th.

The duo of Sam Yeager and Tim Rata each fired a round of 78 on the par 71 layout to lead the Tigers. Luke Johnson had an 81 for Warsaw. Luke Delp finished with a round of 84 and Rob Sullivan had a 93 for the Tigers.

Caleb Lung of NorthWood shot 75 and then won a playoff with Kirby Hart of CMA to earn individual medalist honors on the day.

Sean Hogan and Taylor Weiland each shot an 86 for the Panthers, while Jacob Falk had an 87 and Nick Sherk a 93.

Warsaw will host NorthWood Tuesday night in a key conference matchup at Stonehenge.
