Emily Umbaugh, a WCHS graduate, has been honored for her work in the classroom as a student-athlete at Williams Baptist College.
Umbaugh, a 6-1 sophomore opposite for the volleyball team, earned Academic All-American Midwest Conference accolades for the 2012 season.
Umbaugh, a 2011 WCHS grad who participated in both volleyball and track and field in high school, was one of seven members of the program to receive academic all-conference honors. Athletes must have a minimum, cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.0 to qualify.
Umbaugh, the daughter of Randy and Kim Umbaugh of Winona Lake, helped the Eagles post a 23-12 overall mark this fall. Coach Eric Newell’s team was just four wins short of the program record of 27 and went 8-10 in AMC play.
Williams Baptist College, located in Walnut Ridge, Arkansas, competes in the NAIA.
