Golf
The NorthWood boys golf team picked up a pair of conference wins Thursday evening.
The Panthers shot a 162 to edge past host Concord (165) and defeat Goshen (220) in Northern Lakes Conference play at the Bent Oak Golf Club in Elkhart.
The duo of Caleb Lung and Taylor Weigand each shot a 39 to lead the way for the Panthers.
Sean Hogan and Nick Sherk each came in with a 42 for the winners, while Randy Kauffman finished with a 49.
NorthWood improves to 7-2 overall and goes to 3-1 in NLC play.
NorthWood will play in the Culver Academy Invitational Saturday at Mystic Hills. The Panthers then face unbeaten Warsaw on Tuesday in a conference match at Stonehenge.
Softball
The NorthWood softball team dropped a 6-3 final to host Elkhart Memorial in a Northern Lakes Conference game.
The host Crimson Chargers took a 3-0 lead before the Panthers scored three rimes in the fifth inning to tie the league contest. Memorial then plated three more tallies in the home half of the sixth to earn the win.
Becca Stacey led the offense for NorthWood with two hits. Hannah Stickley took the pitching loss, despite striking out eight Memorial hitters.
Cadence Lee led Memorial with three hits. Ashley Asher had two hits, including a double, and two RBI for the winners. Syd Ryan, who relieved in the sixth inning, earned the pitching win.
The Panthers, who drop to 0-13 overall and 3-8 in the NLC, host conference foe Plymouth Monday night.
