SOUTH BEND — Automotive historian and author Tom Cotter, who is driving coast to coast on the Lincoln Highway in a 1926 Ford Model T speedster, will stop in South Bend on Wednesday.

He is expected to arrive at Studebaker National Museum, 201 Chapin St., about 3 p.m. At 5 p.m., he will go to Fiddler’s Hearth, 127 N. Main St., to talk with the public.

The Model T will be on display outside both the museum and the restaurant.

Cotter is part of a three-man team that is driving the Model T from New York City to San Francisco. They left the East Coast on Sunday. Cotter plans to write a book about the trip.

Cotter will lead informal discussions about his cross-country trek, including the challenges of driving and maintaining an antique automobile and travel via the Lincoln Highway, the United States’ first cross-country route. Cotter has written several books about autos, including “Hemi in the Barn,” “Cobra in the Barn” and “Fifty Shades of Rust.”
