WARSAW – Rochester’s outside game transitioned well to the inside. Moving from a rainy Akron to a perfect Warsaw Tennis & Fitness Club, the Zebras were almost flawless in a 5-0 Three Rivers Conference win over Tippecanoe Valley Monday evening.
Having only two open courts in the facility, Rochester made quick work of what could have been a very long night at the club. Singles play was nearly perfect, as Zoe Bixler, Allie Bickle and Abbie McCarter gave up a grand total of two games to Aerin Shewman, Tiphanie Hodge and Lea Stouder, McCarter tossing the shutout.
Arrianah Jacobs and Rosalie Navarro also pitched a shutout in its one double matchup against Kennedy Niedbalski and Makenna Bradley.
At two doubles, American Baca and Makayla Sandbakken gave Valley its best showing of the day, pushing Rochester’s Grace Daake and Clair Dunwoody. Rochester took the first set 6-3, but found themselves trailing 4-3 in the second set. After splitting the next two games, the Zebra duo had to rally to tie the match at six, then won the tiebreaker 4-0 to get the ‘W’.
Tippecanoe Valley drops to 1-8 overall and 0-2 in the TRC, Rochester moves to 9-2 and 3-1.
Valley returns to the court Tuesday at home against Wabash.
