Reed, Lamle, Bedke On Display At Turtletown

CHURUBUSCO – Wawasee’s Hannah-Marie Lamle and Whitko’s Kaity Reed had big days at the Turtletown Classic girls track showcase hosted by Churubusco. Manchester’s Rae Bedke had the biggest.
Bedke won four event titles, taking three individual and one relay to score 40 points and help Manchester to the team title. Bedke won the 800, 1,600 and 3,200 runs and anchored the 4×800 Squire relay team to a win as Manchester totaled 91 points to win the Black Division title. Bedke was awarded as the Top Individual following the meet.
Whitko finished seventh in the Black Division with 53 points, helped by a pair of top-threes from Reed. Flying 15-8.5 in the long jump, Reed was tops and came in third in the high jump with an uncharacteristic 4-10. Reed, who is the Whitko record holder in the high jump at 5-6, was fifth in the state a year ago.
The Wildcats had three other competitors land in the top four, with Suzanne Sickafoose third in the 400 (1:03.26), Lyndsey Sapp third in discus (103-3) and Carissa Beck fourth in the shot put (31-0.5).
Lamle highlighted Wawasee’s day at Turtletown in the Gold Division, winning the 300 hurdles at 49.42 and taking second in the 100 hurdles at 17.14. Lamle was also second in long jump at 16-2.
Jada Parzygnot was second in pole vault (9-6), Alexis Mangas second in discus (113-6) and Elizabeth Zorn finished fourth in the 3,200 (12:37.17) and fifth in the 1,600 (5:47.13).
Columbia City won the Gold Division title with 130.5 points, Wawasee taking fourth at 67 points.
The Lady Warriors will host Warsaw and NorthWood Tuesday in Northern Lakes Conference action while Whitko also compete Tuesday against Manchester, Northfield and LCA in Three Rivers Conference action.
