Norma F. Parker Curless, 94, Columbia City, died at 12:30 p.m., Saturday, April 15, at Miller’s Merry Manor where she had been a resident since March.

She was born April 17, 1922, in Elwood, a daughter of John Alvia and Edna Ruth (Hartin) Hurst. Her formative years were spent in Elwood and she graduated from Elwood High School.

On Aug. 5, 1949, she was united in marriage to Clarence Edgar “Ed” Parker. They made their home in Indianapolis a few months before moving to Columbia City. Mr. Parker died Dec. 23, 1970.

On July 15, 1978, she was united in marriage to Robert W. Curless. They always made their home in Columbia City moving to Columbia Shores in 1992. Mr. Curless died Dec. 18, 1995.

Norma worked for Richard Minear D.D.S. for several years, Linvill Clinic for several years and began working for Citizens National Bank, retiring from Star Bank.

She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and Tri Kappa.

Surviving relatives include three sons: Michael (Jeannie) Parker, Gary (Rebecca) Parker; and Scott (Linda) Parker, all of Columbia City; daughter-in-law: Kathleen (Marlin) Carr, Warsaw; two stepdaughters: Barbara Hasty, Marion; and Cathy (Kurt) Tauss, Connecticut; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; seven stepgrandchildren; eight great-stepgrandchildren; and 16 great-great-stepgrandchildren.

In addition to her husbans, she was preceded in death by a son: Douglas B. Parker; a stepson: James Curless; a stepgrandson; and a brother: Maurice Hurst.

The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, April 20, at Smith and Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City. The burial will be in Greenhill Cemetery. The visitation will be from 4-7 p.m., Wednesday, April 19, at the funeral home.
