NORTH WEBSTER — Experience a traditional afternoon tea when North Webster Community Public Library, Friends of the Library and Senior Primelife Enrichment Center host a Ladies Tea 2 p.m. Thursday, May 11 in the North Webster Community Center Banquet Hall. Tickets are currently on sale for $6 and available at the library, SPEC in the North Webster Community Center or from any Friends of the Library member.

In addition to tea, the afternoon will include light refreshments, quaint table service and decorations, door prizes and musical entertainment by the Tennis Ukes. Guests are encouraged to wear a fun hat to complement the gaiety of the occasion. Proceeds from ticket sales will go to support the work of the library and SPEC programs and services. Tickets will not be available at the door and must be purchased in advance. So mark your calendars for May 11, buy a ticket and come to tea.

If you enjoy writing, come to Writer’s Corner 10 a.m. Monday, April 17 and travel down the Yellow Brick Road as the group shares their compositions on their favorite Wizard of Oz characters.  Then later that day at 5 p.m., R.E.A.D. Book Club meets to discuss Midwives: A Novel by Chris Bohjalian. Next month’s selection The Divine Secrets of Ya Ya Sisterhood by Rebecca Wells will also be available.

Be sure to enter April’s drawing for a chance to win a prize. Read a book, listen to an audio book or watch a movie with the word rain or showers in the title; then stop by the Check It Out Station near the circulation desk and fill out an entry slip with the book or movie title, your name and phone number. The more books you read or movies you watch, the more chances you have to win. The winner will be drawn May 1.

Walk through the library’s art gallery and admire the beautiful display of handcrafted dresses and wall hangings created by the late Margaret Helen Hays whose artistic passion was sculpting with fabric and liturgical art. The display was loaned to the library by her son Richard Hays.
