WARSAW — Students enrolled in advanced placement classes at Warsaw Community High School can now use an app called albert.io to assist them in practicing AP multiple choice questions.

Emily Gough, who teaches an AP environmental science class at WCHS, explained that the site has multiple choice questions similar to what the students will see on their exams in May.

The questions are organized by topic. Students can choose to study a variety of topics or focus on one topic that they may be struggling with. The program keeps track of the progress of the students.

Currently, albert.io is holding a contest called “Win by Doing.” Classes submit a picture of themselves using the app. People can then vote on the pictures. The class with the most votes wins a MacBook Pro and $300 Amazon credit.

To vote, scroll down to the entry you want and click “voted”. It will then pop up and ask for an email address. The final step is to check your email and enter the verification code that is provided. One vote per email address. The verification code must be entered in order to complete the vote.

Gough feels the utilization of the app in her class has been helpful, stating, “I love that, as a teacher, I have access to see the progress of each of my students and can see at a glance what areas the class as a whole needs more practice with. Having such an extensive bank of questions is also very helpful.”

Gough’s class is currently in 6th place. For Gough, winning the contest would mean that one of her deserving students would get a brand new computer to take to college while Gough would receive some money to spend on classroom supplies.
