Warsaw SportsWARSAW – Abby Curtis turned in a big-time performance Tuesday night to pace the Warsaw girls track team to a win in its outdoor opener.

Curtis had a hand, or two strong legs in this case, in three wins as the hosts defeated Homestead 71-61 in a non-conference matchup.

Curtis won a pair of individual events as the standout sprinter was first in both the 100 and 200-meter dashes. Curtis won the 100 in a top time of 12.61 and was the winner in the 200 in a time of 26.89.

Curtis also teamed with Shunterra Davis, Maygan Bellamy and Makayla Clampitt to take top honors in the 4 X 100 relay race with a winning effort of 50.64.

The Tigers also got a win in the 4 X 400 relay event as the team of Bellamy, Remi Beckham, Angie Sanchez-Vigil and Kenzie Martz won with a time of 4:07.59.

Warsaw won two field events on the evening. Morgan Bruner won the high jump with a leap of 5-0. Joelle Messenger took first in the pole vault by clearing 8-6.

Warsaw returns to action by hosting Northridge and Goshen in their Northern Lakes Conference opener on April 11 at 5:30 p.m. at WCHS.
