Hoosier State Relays: Warsaw, Whitko Stars Shine At HSR Finals

BLOOMINGTON – Several members of the Warsaw girls track team competed Saturday in the Hoosier State Relays Finals held at Indiana University.

The top effort of the meet for the Tigers came from the quartet of Emma Bohnenkamper, Dayton Groninger, Angie Sanhez-Vijil and Anna Craig. They earned a seventh place finish in the 4 X 800 relay event with a time of 9:46.23.

The Distance Medley Relay team of Craig, Remi Beckham, Groninger and Mia Beckham finished in ninth place with a time of 12:42.25.

Charlene Orr captured an 18th place finish in the 3,200-meter run with a time of 11:52.89.

Warsaw is scheduled to host Homestead Tuesday night at 5:30 p.m.

One note among the excitement was Whitko senior Kaitlyn Reed, who jumped 5-5 in high jump to win the state title. Reed finished fifth in the IHSAA State Championships in high jump a year ago.
