SweedenMildred L. Sweeden, 82, of South Whitley, Ind., died at 6:50 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2013, at her home of natural causes.

She was born Aug. 27, 1930, in White Pine, Tenn., a daughter of Arthur C. and Flora J. (Mattox) Coleman. Her formative years were spent in Tennessee.

On Oct. 3, 1949, she married J.T. Sweeden. They made their home in Windfall, Ind., before moving to Summitville. Mr. Sweeden died May 14, 1978.

She was employed at Kraft Foods in Summitville, Chamberlin Products in South Whitley and retired from Seamco in South Whitley with more than 10 years of service.

Her membership included Eagles #1906 in Columbia City.

Surviving relatives include two daughters: Kristi M. (Bret) Bailey, Sidney, Ind.; and Karla (Randy) Slusher, South Whitley; two grandchildren: Joel Bailey and Megan Slusher; a brother: Doug (Connie) Coleman, Anderson, Ind.; two sisters: June (Bill) Yeagy, Summitville; and Marie Clifton, South Whitley; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband; a sister: Ruby Coleman; and two brothers: Luther Coleman and Carl Coleman.

Visitation is today from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Smith & Sons Miller Chapel, South Whitley. The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday the funeral home. The burial will be in Vinson Memorial Park in Summitville.
