This week’s First Friday event in downtown Warsaw is the third annual Hot Chili Nights theme and event organizers are still looking for participants.

Looking to find the best chili in Warsaw, restaurants, individuals and organizations are being invited to take part in the chili cook-off, which will be part of First Friday that will run from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Chili divisions will be judged by a select panel that will determine the best beef chili, non-beef chili and even vegetarian chili. The public can also judge for their favorite chili with penny votes. Anyone taking part in the public judging will purchase a $2 wrist band and spoons for sampling the chili varieties.

Those wanting to share their best chili are asked to prepare a pot that is between 6 gallons and 10 gallons. Cooks will also need to come prepared with a means to keep the chili hot, a table, small plastic cups and spoons to offer samples to people, and a list of ingredients.

Anyone interested in divulging their secret recipe chili may fill out an application online at WarsawCDC.org or ask for an application by calling 574-376-0233.
