Jeanette Alwine, 96, Warsaw, passed away at 4:35 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 12, 2017 in Peabody Retirement Community, North Manchester. She was born Feb. 1, 1921 in Patterson, N.J. to Thomas and Jessie (Dykstra) Korenstra.

She was united in marriage to Phil Alwine on Feb. 1, 1947 in Michigan City, who preceded her March 22, 2005. Raised in Goshen and a former resident of South Bend, in 1982 she moved to Irish Lake. She had 25 years of service with Sears in the Clerical and Audit Department and retired in 1982 after serving in South Bend and Anderson. She attended the Good Shepherd Presbyterian Church in Winona Lake.

Survivors include a son, Daniel E. (spouse Carol) Alwine of Warsaw; brothers: Gary Korenstra of Punta Gorda, Fla.; and Francis Korenstra of Syracuse. In addition, one grandson, four great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren survive.

In addition to her husband Phil, she was preceded by two sisters and four brothers.

Private services are scheduled. Interment will be in Union Cemetery, Nappanee. McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw is entrusted with arrangements.
