Valley Basketball: Vikings Down North Miami
DENVER – A big third quarter carried Tippecanoe Valley past North Miami 50-42 Friday night.
The Vikings outscored the hosts 16-8 in the pivotal third frame to earn the Three Rivers Conference boys basketball victory.
Valley led 7-6 after the opening period and the game was tied at 19-19 at halftime. Valley then took command in the third period.
Alec Craig had a strong all-around performance to lead the winners. He finished with a game-high 18 points to go with six rebounds and six assists.
Keith Wright scored 12 points and Jarod Duzenbery 11 for the Vikings. Tanner Trippiedi chipped in with 10 points for Valley. Duzenbery also grabbed eight rebounds.
Valley shot 16-47 overall from the field, including 4-18 from distance. The Vikings were 16-24 from the free throw line and had just eight turnovers.
North Miami shot just 14-39 from the field, including a 1-17 effort from distance. The hosts were also just 11-22 from the line and had 17 turnovers.
Tristan Working led North Miami with 13 points.
Valley, which has won two of its last three games, improves to 8-12 overall and goes to 4-5 in the TRC. North Miami, losers of four in a row, drops to 7-12 overall and moves to 1-7 in league play.
Valley hosts Culver Tuesday night. North Miami plays at Argos on Feb. 18.
